| Eligibility: | Alabama undergraduate resident enrolled at least half-time and attending an eligible independent Alabama college or university, which includes Birmingham-Southern College, Concordia College, Faulkner University, Huntingdon College, Judson College, Miles College, Oakwood College, Samford University, Southeastern Bible College, Spring Hill College, Stillman College, and the University of Mobile. Eligibility is not based on financial need. |

| Federal Pell Grant |
| Eligibility: | Undergraduate student who holds no bachelor's or higher degree, has financial need, and is a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen enrolled in an eligible school. Students enrolled in a postbaccalaureate teacher certificate or licensing program may also be eligible. |
| Awards: | Amount set by the federal government each year depending on program funding and financial need. For the 2007-2008 academic year, the award maximum is $4,110. |

| Academic Competitiveness Grant |
| Eligibility: | First- and second-year full-time undergraduate student who holds no bachelor's or higher degree, receives a Federal Pell grant, and is a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen enrolled in an eligible school. First-year students must have been enrolled in a "rigorous" high school program. Second-year students must have a 3.0 GPA after their first year in college. |
| Awards: | A first-year student can be awarded up to $750; second-year student can receive up to $1,300. |

| National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant |
| Eligibility: | Third-and fourth-year full time undergraduate students majoring in certain areas of science, mathematics, and foreign language. They must be Federal Pell grant recipients and have at least a 3.0 GPA in their major to qualify. |
| Awards: | The maximum SMART award is $4,000 per year. |
